PANASONIC
When we first started this project we thought that making the website easy to navigate, and use, would be all that was needed to allow anyone that wanted to add their loved one to do just that. It wasn't until later that we realized that there were so many people that either had very limited, or no internet connectivity at all, or that didn’t have a way to get their images scanned into digital format and edited to be included on the site.
Panasonic to the rescue!
With the help of the great folks over at Panasonic, we were able to equip our RememberTheFallen.com Hummer with a Panasonic Toughbook computer system. These incredible computers are ruggedized, and able to withstand pretty much anything we can throw at them. These are the same computer systems used by the police, military, and rescue personal, along with countless other groups all over the world.
With this great new addition we were now able to assist anyone with adding their loved one to the site from anyplace we traveled! All someone would have to do now is bring the pictures to us of their loved one, and we could add them to the site them right there in the field.
Not that the computer system wasn’t enough, but we now also have a Panasonic Toughbook Arbitrator camera system installed in the Hummer. This camera system will allow us to stream live video from events or trips, and offers us 16 hours of video and audio storage. I can’ even begin to tell you how impressed with have been with ALL of our Panasonic equipment, and we can’t thank them enough for all their support!
And to give you an example of how tough these systems are, I was recently hit by another vehicle as I was on an exit ramp waiting for a light to change, as you can tell by the damage to his vehicle this was no small blow. Even though other electronics in the vehicle were destroyed by the shock of the hit, much to my suprise, the Toughbook was still running!
The lid had slammed closed due to the impact, but the system was running just fine, and the screen was intact! Lets see some other laptop try and survive that...
The Toughbook is one computer that really lives up to its name.
